Commit #291098Common post-operatively, up to 40% of post pneumonectomy patients develop AF. May also develop atrial flutter or supraventricular tachycardias.
- ABC approach in emergency
- Correct underlying electrolyte abnormalities
- Correct Acid/base
- Propranolol and verapamil increase the risk of hypotension and brady cardia
- Guidelines from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons do not currently recommend the prophylactic use of amiodarone.However, guidelines from the American Association for Thoracic Surgery suggest that it is reasonable to administer amiodarone prophylactically after surgery in intermediate-to high-risk patients
