Commit #272750
Describe the phases of the volume-pressure diagram of the cardiac cycle in the left ventricle from this image.

Back
Commit #272750Phase
I is period of filling, goes from 0mmHg at
45 ml (end systolic volume) to 5mmHg at 110ml.
Phase
II
is period of isovolumic contraction, pressure increasing with
contraction, but valves closed
Phase
III is period of ejection. Pressure continues to rise with contraction
even as volume falls,
Phase
IV is isovolumic relaxation.
