- Vomiting --> dehydration/ volume depletion --> ADH --> water retention and dilutional hyponatremia
- Direct loss (less than others)

- Due to acquired alkalosis --> kidneys excrete more potassium in exchange for H+ ions
- Loss of gastric contents (i.e. HCl) --> depletion of chloride ions
- Hydrogen ions secreted into gastric lumen --> lost due to vomiting --> relative increase in HCO3-
- Loss of chloride --> kidneys compensate to ensure electrochemical homeostasis --> retention of bicarbonate
