How many months should a child be breastfed for?

Exclusively breastfed for 6 months. Then, continue breastfeeding with addition of solid foods that are iron-rich (e.g. meat, meat alternatives, and iron-fortified cereals). Can continue to breastfeed through to the child's second birthday.
