- Preop showering (e.g. chlorhexidine)
- Screen for S. aureus and MRSA carriers and consider decolonization
- Contral blood glucose
Anaphylactic prophyaxis
- Depends on type of procedure, usually administered within 60 min before incision, and d/c before 24 hrs postop
- Usually cefazolin 1-2 g IV +/- metronidazole 500 mg IV depending on procedure
