ABCDE
A = airway (i.e. air can pass to lungs)

- Airway patent and intact
- No blood or obstruction in oropharynx
B = breathing (i.e. oxygenate and ventilate)
- Equal breath sounds bilaterally, no asymmetrical chest rise, no crepitus or emphysema, trachea midline
- Satting at X% on Y
C = circulation
- pulse rate, BP
- capillary refill
- peripheral pulses
- no obvious bleeding to chest, abdo, retroperitoneum, long bones, or externally
- pelvis stable
D = disability
- GCS
- pupillary size and responsiveness
- gross motor and sensory function all 4 limbs
- priapism, anal sphincter tone, bulbocavernosus reflex
E = exposure
- completely expose
- log-roll
- check back of head, back, buttocks, perineum, axillae, skin folds
