What is the rationale for WinRho/ RhoGam and when should it be used?
WinRho/ RhoGam is believed to bind to exposed Rh+ antigens --> masking from the mother's immune system and preventing the isoimmunization process and subsequent production of anti-D.

Rh- mothers should be given WinRho/ RhoGam
  • At 28 weeks gestation
  • Whenevere there is risk of exposure to fetal blood (e.g. trauma, hemorrhage, invasive procedure like amniocentesis or chronionic villus sampling, ectopic)
  • Within 72 hrs after childbirth or miscarriage
