What is the management for placental abruption?
Initial assessment
  1. Resus: maternal vitals, IVF and possible transfusion, FHR
  2. CBC, type and crossmatch, coagulation profile (PT, PTT, INR, fibrinogen), Kleihauer-Betke (fetal-maternal hemorrhage)
  3. U/S
Mild abruption, stable mother and fetus, < 34 weeks
  1. Hospitalize for close monitoring
  2. Bed rest
  3. Bethamethasone to promote fetal lung maturity
Severe abruption or maternal/ fetal compromise, OR >= 34 weeks
  1. Immediate delivery --> emergency C-section
  2. Management of acute hemorrhage (IVF, blood transfusion, monitor urine output)
