Class VI, {{c1::+ssRNA (retroviruses)}}
- The {{c1::+ssRNA}}, it is not used as mRNA. Instead, the virus uses its {{c1::reverse transcriptase}} to synthesize a piece of {{c1::ssDNA}} complementary to the vrial genome
- The reverse transcriptase also possesses ribonuclease activity, which is used to degrade the {{c1::RNA strand of the DNA-DNA hybrid}}
- Lastly, the reverse transcriptase is used as a DNA polymerase to make complemnetary copy to the ssDNA, yielding a {{c1::dsDNA molecule}}
