When would an ejection systolic murmur be considered normal in a child?
Physiologic murmurs are common in children. They are usually characterized by:
  • Systolic
  • Soft with no thrill
  • Vibratory, musical, or blowing
  • Typically left sternal border
  • Change in intensity with position
  • Asymptomatic
Examples of physiologic murmurs include: Still murmur (LLSB, apex); pulmonary flow murmur (LUSB, decreases with standing); supraclavicular (superior to clavicles radiating to neck)
