A 44 year old woman is day 1 post left mastectomy. On the round she tells you she has been in severe pain all night but no nurses atteneded when she pressed the buzzer to ask for analgesia. The pain is getitng worse and worse. On examination, she has a tense haematoma and there is a large volume of frank blood in the drain. You think she needs to go back to theatre for a washout, but when you begin to explain this to her she starts yelling at you saying that this complication is your fault and that this hospital is negligent.
